Who We Are
The Mendocino County Herb Guild is a passionate, volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to connecting our community through the power of herbalism. We bring together farmers, medicine makers, holistic practitioners, and community members to promote regenerative cultivation, wild-crafting of herbs, intentional medicine-making, and conscious education. Our mission is to foster a healthier, more connected community through accessible herbal resources, education, and healing practices.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Mendocino County Herb Guild
At the Mendocino County Herb Guild, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. To achieve this, we provide comprehensive cultural competency & DEI training to all our volunteers. This training is essential in cultivating a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusivity, helping our volunteers recognize and address unconscious biases and systemic barriers.
Why Inclusivity Matters
Inclusivity means creating a welcoming and respectful environment where every member feels valued and empowered. It involves actively engaging with all members’ unique perspectives, experiences, and identities. Inclusivity also means addressing barriers preventing full participation and fostering a culture of celebrating different viewpoints.
The Importance of DEI Training
DEI training has been crucial in addressing recent conflicts within our organization. It promotes empathy, understanding, and open communication, bridging gaps between worldviews and experiences. This training is vital for improving morale, teamwork, and the overall vitality of our community.
Understanding DEI
- Diversity: Embracing various identities and backgrounds, including race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
- Equity: Ensuring fair treatment and opportunities while identifying and eliminating barriers.
- Inclusion: Creating a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
Our Commitment to DEI
The Mendocino County Herb Guild acknowledges that Mendocino County is the unceded land of the Pomo, Cahto, and Yuki people. We strive to be good ancestors and guests on these traditional territories, practicing mindful harvesting and nurturing the natural beauty of these lands. We stand in solidarity with Indigenous struggles for sovereignty and land rematriation.
We include all local herbalists, farmers, and community members, respecting their social identities and striving to uncover and heal unconscious biases. Our goal is to foster a diverse herbal community by offering cultural competency training, promoting inclusivity, and uplifting perspectives from all cultures.
